Topic: PAGE Round 2 e-mail

Author: Susan Russell Posted: 06/30/10 03:09 PM

I was a little confused by the first e-mail I got from PAGE today, which said "Congratulations! You have advanced to Round 2 with [blank]!"

But now they've fixed it and despite my paranoid delusions, it looks I did advance. Anyone else get a a little happiness in their in-box today?

Author: Irin Evers Posted: 06/30/10 03:16 PM

There was mistake and they sent out an email that mentioned the entries from last year. They just resent it so the new email should be correct.

I moved ahead with my 3 latest scripts luckily. Congrats to the rest of you who did as well.

Author: Karen Barnett Posted: 06/30/10 03:31 PM

YAY!!! Two out of my three entries have advanced, as well.

Best of luck to all!

Author: James Schannep Posted: 06/30/10 03:51 PM

Congrats to the three of you and to anyone else who advanced. I'm in there with you with "Infected". Best of luck to all of us.

Author: Karen Barnett Posted: 06/30/10 03:57 PM

They announce the QF's in just two weeks, so we don't have too long to wait, thank heaven...

Author: Robert Watson Posted: 06/30/10 04:25 PM

Congrats, everybody. PICTURE ME AND YOU also advanced.

Author: Bobbette Findley Posted: 06/30/10 04:31 PM

I advanced with my sci-fi. I made Honorable Mention last year, but with some help from Script Savvy, I kinda thought I'd make the first cut this year. woohoo!!

Author: Michael Murphy Posted: 06/30/10 05:16 PM

Congrats, everyone! I'm happy to have my 3 scripts move forward. Best of luck to all.

Author: Michael Scott Posted: 06/30/10 05:27 PM

I got the same e-mail saying I moved on, but couldn't find it on the website to prove it. Can anyone tell me the link? Thank you!

Author: Karen Barnett Posted: 06/30/10 05:36 PM

I asked about that, as well, Michael, but Page doesn't post Round 2 on their website. They save that for the Quarterfinals.

They got 4400 entries this year, so over 1000 scripts advanced to Round 2. Not that we shouldn't still celebrate -- but there are a lot of scripts still in the running...

Author: Michael Scott Posted: 06/30/10 05:40 PM

Thanks, Karen. I guess I'll have to find something else to obsess about this evening. Wonder if they sent out 4,400 of these e-mails? Keep writing!

Author: James Schannep Posted: 06/30/10 05:45 PM

Does anyone know how much they cut for the next round?

Author: d. santiago Posted: 06/30/10 06:11 PM

Congrats all!

I'm in with one for sure with TILL DEATH DO US PART- romantic comedy.

Because of the glitch, I'm not too sure yet on my second one.

The next cut is the top 10% in each category (although it's still called the quarterfinals for some reason). My Ghost Train advanced to the second round as well. Congrats to the others who advanced!

Congrats all (and in some cases, double and triple congrats)!

Does anyone know if the quarterfinals are 10% of all entries (would be about 440 QF's) or 10% of 2nd rounders (about 110 QF's)?

I like to get caught up in statistics so I can quit worrying.

Author: Patrick Sweeney Posted: 06/30/10 07:39 PM

My understanding is the quarterfinals are 10% of all entries in each category, with placement calculated using both first- and second-round scores.

Author: Cheryl Miller Posted: 06/30/10 07:57 PM

Congrats to all. The more I hear about Page from everyone, the better it sounds.

Author: Susan St. Peters Posted: 06/30/10 08:05 PM

Congratulations to everyone whose scripts advanced. I received notification that my two entries advanced, and one of my students learned that her entry advanced, so yes, "indeedy," there was happiness in email inboxes today!

Author: kevin truglio Posted: 06/30/10 09:48 PM

Susan R - I saw that the 10% is from total but they also posted that it would be about 500 so it may be a little more (the post was on facebook)

It looks like I made it to round 2 but am hoping for more. Between this and Screenplay search semis, a great two days...

Congrats to all and good luck as well!

Kevin

Here is the exact post from FB:

"The R2 top 25% includes all entries in all categories. Since some scripts were entered in multiple cats, we actually have almost 1400 entries still in competition, some in more than one cat. Once R2 is completed, we'll determine the top 10% of all entries: our Quarter-Finalists. I anticipate about 550 scrip...ts will be in our Quarter-Final Round this year. Exciting times here at PAGE H.Q.!!"

Congrats and good luck Stephen. Boy, there's a lot of us this time. Good luck everybody.

Author: Ron Brassfield Posted: 07/09/10 07:30 AM

Just checking in on this board. I entered my first stab at comedy/sci-fi, "Ignore Alien Orders," and it advanced.

Author: Karen Barnett Posted: 07/09/10 12:46 PM

Congratulations, Ron! Is this your very first script? That's awesome!

Author: Janet Hogate Posted: 07/09/10 12:56 PM

Ron, its been a while. Nice to see you in this one. Congrats and good luck.

Author: Ron Brassfield Posted: 07/09/10 09:32 PM

Not my first script, Karen, but the first time trying to write a comedy. I used to frequent this board a lot. I'm busy writing webisodes now, so as to work with some actors I met during the 8-week workshop I was involved in when I wrote that script in the spring. We should be making some actual segments pretty soon.

Author: Karen Barnett Posted: 07/09/10 09:51 PM

Hey, that's awesome, Ron! Care to share any webisodes with us???

Author: Ron Brassfield Posted: 07/09/10 10:13 PM

Of course, thanks for asking. We have to work out where they'll be placed, and all that. I'll gladly announce that information when we have something uploaded. We'll want to stockpile some before beginning to release them. The general idea is to have one per week for a year or so appear on the web. There's some really slick product being done as webisodes, "Bannen's Way" to cite a really sterling example. Ours probably won't be competing with the likes of that for the pinnacle of technical perfection, but it should basically look good, and I think it'll have a lot of heart. We've just recently completed the casting for the series regulars and now I'm actually on the spot to produce the thing. We're all looking forward to having one of the times of our lives.
